Flying High

Happy Independence Day

If you are an American and have a flag, I hope that it is flying proudly today.

Regardless of what nationality you are, if you don't have a flag for your home or apartment, please consider buying one and put it out every sunny day.

Nothing stirs my blood and creates a lump of pride in my throat like a flag snapping in the breeze.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

  1. I agree! When Daddy passed, he was a member of the Woodmen of the World fraternal org., and had been for years.(If I am not mistaken, in and earlier post, you showed some photos of WOW cemetery monuments shaped like a tree trunk). The WOW sent Mother a large flag in his memory. She loved it and we hung it for special days so it wouldn't fade as fast, since it had special memories for her.She hung her "regular" flag the rest of the time. The colors are precious. In my last years of teaching, so called political correctness had entered our lives and we could have students STAND for the pledge, but they didn't have to pledge. I always insisted they all stood. We also, in recent years, said the pledge to the Texas flag, something I didn't learn until I was an adult (don't know why!).

  2. I love the flag too! We always have one hanging on the screen porch. A wonderful girl who was born without some limbs, has become an artist. She pained a mailbox for FLAGS only in front of our firehouse. People put their worn flags there for proper disposal. :)

  3. I'm so glad to have my flag out again. The bracket for the pole came unscrewed from the brick on our house a couple of years ago. We finally got it remounted and I'm back to flying the flag every day.
